Baltimore, MD — Sicura, a DevSecOps automation platform that bridges the gap between engineering and security teams, announced today that they have closed their funding round. The round was led by Squadra Ventures with participation from Inner Loop Capital, BlueWing Ventures, and CoFactor Ventures.
Since its formation in July 2021, Sicura has become a recognized leader in the field of technical security and compliance for enterprise and mid-market customers. Under the guidance of its expert leadership team, the product has evolved from serving highly-regulated, high-security industries to include security and compliance for cloud and hybrid environments. As businesses shift away from strict on-prem requirements, Sicura now offers automated remediation, prevents misconfigurations, and curbs security drift for middle-market and Fortune 500 companies in distributed environments.
With this investment round, Sicura has engaged the support of four funds with a shared commitment to fostering innovative early-stage founders in the DC-Baltimore area, the fourth largest metro economy in the U.S.
The Sicura investor team includes:
“Sicura enables leading customers in financial services, managed services, and technology to achieve security and compliance. The company’s customer traction demonstrates the team is disrupting outdated approaches with proactive automation,” said Justin Label of Inner Loop Capital. “In today’s threat landscape, it’s critical that organizations prevent misconfigurations and make significant efforts to reduce security drift in every workflow. We’re proud to support a DMV, woman-led company that’s helping customers do just that.”
“We knew we weren’t just looking for checks - we wanted to build an investor team with the experience, passion, and expertise to help us grow,” said Lisa Umberger, CEO. “Our investors are cyber experts with deep ties in the DMV, and we’re excited to work with them to build a great company.”
With the round, the team has added four senior engineers and will make major investments in their product, including adding Amazon Linux to supported infrastructures, building out security profiles for CMMC and GDPR for customers, and advancing dashboard and reporting capabilities. The company will continue to grow their sales, business development, and marketing operations throughout 2022.
